We welcome you all to the website of ORBIK. ORBIK is an Organization of Retired Bankers In Kochi registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955.
Thousands of retired Bank Officers are residing in Ernakulam District. Unfortunately there is no common plat form for us to meet and inter act with each other after the retirement. Many faces have faded away from our memory. The retirement made us inactive though we have energy and health to live one more life.
Most of us have miserably failed to discharge our family obligations due to the pressure of work when we were in service. This has made us slaves of many chronic deceases. Post retirement life has worsened the situation further. The level of activities decreased and on an average 5 to 8 hours, the people are either sitting idle or lying down.
The steady withdrawal from regular activities leads to the problems of isolation, neglect and loneliness.
The rapid urbanization has taken over the traditional value system of our people and shifted their socio economic priorities. Shifting from the home towns to cities for convenience of the employment and education of the children, we missed our near and dear including our association with the society, partly. Thus, most of us are living in an isolated island without much friends and social activities. Family atmosphere will also play a negative roll once the financial position weakens. Old age homes and nurseries for the elders are coming up in every cities and even rural areas which shows the trend and culture of the new generation.
ORBIK is a new apolitical independent organization for the Retired Bank Officers settled in Ernakulam District with an aim to bring all retired officers under one banner to make our life more meaningful and active.
- To make the people around us active and cheerful.
- To do something to improve the quality of life of the retired bank officers.
- To develop meaningful connections with each other.
- To prevent loneliness, helplessness, & boredom.
Let us join together to lead a healthy and dignified life.
ORBIK proposed to conduct the following programmes on an ongoing basis with the active participation of the members:
- Dinner/Lunch meetings, once in a quarter
- Picnic/Tour programmes once in two months
- Lectures by famous Doctors regarding age related deceases.
- Cultural activities by the retirees and for the retirees
- Other programmes as per the consensus of the members.
